ABOUT SAMANTHA & FORMATION
OF SAMANTHA'S SWIMMING
Samantha began teaching swimming lessons in Spokane in late 2007, shortly after moving from Florida. Drawing from her Water Safety Instructor (WSI) training and years of experience lifeguarding and teaching at multiple facilities throughout high school and college, she developed a distinctive, student-centered teaching approach. What started with a few neighbors and friendly conversations quickly grew into a thriving passion. By the spring of 2008, the demand through word-of-mouth was so strong that Samantha made a full-time commitment to teaching swimming.
Swimming has been a lifelong part of Samantha’s story.
She grew up on a yacht in Seattle until age seven and began lessons at just six months old. After completing the Swim America program in Snohomish, WA, she carried her love for the water into adulthood. Samantha believes that swimming is not only a joyful activity but also an essential life skill—crucial for safety, confidence, and child development.
Over the past 19 years, Samantha’s Swimming has grown exponentially, teaching students from 6 months to over 50 years old, including individuals with physical and developmental disabilities. Today, we continue to expand our impact by traveling across the country for advanced training and professional seminars, collaborating with other established swim schools, and contributing expertise to publications in the field.
We are proud to have a dedicated team of instructors certified through Samantha’s Swimming LLC, each trained to follow our proven protocols, visual aids, and lesson plans. Every lesson is intentionally structured yet personalized—taught without rigid expectations but always with a clear goal in mind: to help each swimmer progress safely, confidently, and joyfully toward independence in the water.
THE SAMANTHA'S SWIMMING
APPROACH
At Samantha’s Swimming, our approach is rooted in water safety, trust, and long-term skill development. We believe that learning to swim should be a positive, confidence-building experience that meets each swimmer exactly where they are.
Our lessons follow a child-led, student-centered model that prioritizes emotional readiness, comfort in the water, and progressive skill building. Rather than forcing benchmarks or rushing development, instructors guide swimmers through intentional steps that build body awareness, breath control, and independence in the water.
Safety is always our top priority. Every instructor is trained through Samantha’s Swimming LLC and follows our established protocols, visual aids, and lesson plans. While each lesson is carefully structured, it is also highly individualized to ensure that every swimmer receives the support they need to succeed.
We focus on:
- Water safety skills for real-life situations
- Confidence and trust between swimmer and instructor
- Age-appropriate progression at the swimmer’s own pace
- Consistency and repetition to build strong foundations
- A calm, respectful learning environment
Our goal is not perfection—it is progress. Through patience, consistency, and encouragement, we help swimmers of all ages develop the skills and confidence they need to move safely, independently, and joyfully in the water.
